Praying for Ashley
She had a normal day full of laughter. No real indication of not being well. We played ball before bedtime. She came out of the playroom on her own and sat on her “perch”. She was funny and animated.

I woke to the sounds of her cries. She is crying out. Screaming. Trembling.

There is no fever. Just discomfort. She won’t allow us to touch her and so I’m lying on the floor next to her bed praying for her. I knew I should have written a little today so people might understand what is probably happening inside of her but it is just too hard. I say probably because no one really knows. They can say what is likely going to take place but our girl sat right in front of them 3days ago and smiled and laughed and played all the while they made predictions. All I could do was ask ” would you do anything more than what I am now?” Would your decisions be different?” Can you look at that little face and make decisions differently than this?” She is just SO happy! Most days.

But tonight… She’s uncomfortable… Sickly… Hurting… And…I begin to doubt this path we are on. I begin to panic and second guess because I know that one day the smiles are going to cease and its going to be different. I know that and it’s killing me.

So… Will you pray? Again? For my sweet Ashley Kate.

Is there something that you’ve done in your past that you’re not particularly happy about? A choice that you regret? The good news today is that you can be free of guilt and condemnation. You don’t have to live with that burden any longer.

Today’s verse tells us that God’s mercies are new every morning. He’s not ever going to run out of compassion. He’s not ever going to run out of forgiveness. He’s not ever going to say, “Well, this is the last time I’m going to give you mercy.” No, you can have a new beginning every single day!

Let that truth sink down deep into your heart right now. If there is anything from the past that you may still be carrying, take a moment and call on His faithfulness. Call on His mercy. Ask for His forgiveness. Let Him refresh and restore your soul right now. Praise Him and thank Him for the work He is doing in your life and enjoy a fresh new beginning today!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, today I choose to let go of every single weight from the past. I call on Your mercy; I call on Your grace. Thank You for hearing me and delivering me. I receive Your love and forgiveness today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

“…In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, NIV).

Every day, things come against us in life to try to steal our joy and rob us of our victory. In fact, throughout your whole life, the enemy has had one mission—to kill, steal and destroy your hope, vision and happiness. But I love what it says in today’s verse, “take heart.” In one translation it says, “Be of good cheer.” Now that may seem strange to say right after “in this world you will have trouble,” but when we truly understand that we are overcomers in Christ Jesus, we can be joyful no matter what the circumstances look like. We don’t have to allow our emotions to get rattled. We don’t have to let our nerves go haywire. We can find rest knowing that Jesus has overcome the world and deprived it of the power to harm us.

We have to remember; the things that happen in this life are temporary. We are in this world but not of it. We need to keep our focus on eternal things, things above. Sure, we will have trouble in this life, but we can stay encouraged because in eternity, we are overcomers through Christ Jesus!

If you are reading this, please, please, please keep my friend’s family and friends in your prayers :(  her younger sister and another girl were in a serious car wreck as I’ve heard.  Her sister had to be care-flighted to a hospital, and I’m not sure about the other girl but I’m sure she’s in a serious condition as well.  It’s in God’s hands.  I just pray for peace and comfort for everyone affected.
